DESCRIPTION

The main objective of the project was the optimization of a high efficiency and medium power fuel cell system that can be integrated in a combined heat and power production system, able to be integrated in the domestic residential sector.

The applications in this sector cover from lighting and appliances electrical feeding to the heating and refrigeration systems, among others.

 

The role of AIn_tech in the Project was mainly focused on the development of PVD (Physical Vapour Deposition) coatings to be implemented in the new bipolar plates design, made of aluminum alloys. These plates need to be protected against chemical attack and corrosion in the aggressive environment of a hydrogen fuel cell.

Besides, new materials for electro catalyst and proton conductive membranes have been investigated in the framework of the project, as well manufacturing processes optimization and the mechanical design of flux gas distribution and thermal conditioning.

ACTIVITY DEVELOPED BY AINTECH

  • Development of PVD coatings over alumina alloy plates.
  • Surface characterization of the above mentioned coatings.
