DESCRIPTION

The general objective of AG_UAS is to demonstrate the technical and economic feasibility of a new Aerial Remote Sensing methodology, based on UAS, to improve global water management, contributing to its sustainable use on a regional scale.
The specific objectives of the project are:
To test to new innovative aerial remote sensing systems, designing and constructing two prototypes, one based on a high resolution infrared camera and another on a multispectral camera, both systems using an unmanned helicopter as an aerial platform.

To demonstrate the technical feasibility of the method in the following environmental missions:

  • Detection of leaks and filtrations in hydraulic infrastructures (supply and transport)
  • Detection of leaks and filtrations in mining waste storage infrastructures
  • Identification of the water needs of crops
  • Detection of discharges and emissions in surface water
  • Detection of thermal pollution in water masses
  • Surveillance of ecological and chemical status of surface waters
  • Detection of water resources for inventory purposes

To demonstrate the economic feasibility of the method
Promote a Dissemination Plan on a national level and in Europe
Develop a procedures manual to effectively apply the new methodology on sustainable water management
