DESCRIPTION

The objective of the HOTWORK Project is to develop new Surface Treatments based on nano structured coatings to increase the productivity of:

Casting moulds for Copper – Nickel/Alumina gravity foundry, looking for improving its surface thermal fatigue behavior and alumina shaping/conforming dies increasing its abrasion resistance in front of gripping effect coming from alumina pressure contacts. The project has developed advanced coatings using Physical Vapor Deposition (PVD) technology.  These objectives are included in the frame of industrial processes improving programs carried out by Technological centers and Companies focusing new international, mainly European and USA, markets development.

 

The development strategy of the Project is as follows:

  • Thermal barrier coatings (TBC) by means of PVD electron-beam combination of MeCrAlY y ZrO2.
  • Nano – structured coatings from the  Chromium – Alumina – Silicon- Nitrogen/Oxygen  family using the cathode arc evaporation (CAE) PVD technology.

ACTIVITY DEVELOPED BY AINTECH

Development of advanced coatings of single and nano multi layer with high resistance to the thermal fatigue. Two new families of  of TiAlSiN, and CrAlSiN – CrAlO, have been developed by PVD. We have verified that TiAlSiN and CrAlSiN families have provided higher level mould protection tan the current conventional market ones.
