The global objective of the Project is the development of a continuous process and its related micro – manufacturing platform to produce polymeric micro tubes and other micro tubular components for medical (diagnosis and therapy). The results would also be extended to other non medical sectors, mainly to scientific instruments field.
With the development of this Project we intend to open new market opportunities  for European  SMEs in the field of micro – products and micro manufacturing processes with a wide range of potential applications.


The specific objectives of the Project have been the following ones:

  • To implement a methodology to design and manufacture polymeric micro tubes and other micro components (with internal channels between 2 and 200 microns) as well as to validate it by means of end user prototypes.
  • To transfer the laboratory scale processes and equipments (micro – extrusion, micro – shaping and laser treatment)  to industrial scale ones.
  • To integrate individual equipments in a production line, adapting a “Process Transfer Strategy” (PTS – Madurity Model), that integrates the specific cases in a manufacturing line, including also Information Technologies and Logistics.
  • To prove the technical and business viability of mass production at industrial scale of products feeding the needed requiremts (medical and non medical sectors).


  • Surface treatments of micro – tools.
  • Polymer and micro components treatment.
