DESCRIPTION

The main objective of SUPER-MARAGING Project is the development of plasma activated ion nitriding processes to improve the wearing and corrosion resistance of maraging steels. Besides, the Project aims at developing new simultaneous process of aging and nitriding.

ACTIVITY DEVELOPED BY AINTECH

AIN_TECH has developed the thermal aging and nitriding + aging in PVD chamber processes. Later, the previously treated steel parts chemical, mechanical and tribologycal properties were characterized. Besides, the influence of nitriding treatments in the corrosion resistance of maraging steel聽 has been studied. In the framework of the Project, the plasma immersion ion implantation technology (also known as PI3) has been implemented to produce nitriding profiles. Among the results of the project, the following European patent has been generated: EP 11156311.0 Method for nitriding metal alloys and device for carrying out said method
